Notes on EMPIRE:
all information is from https://www.bauermedia.co.uk/media-packs/empire/
- - The worlds most influential film magazine, EMPIRE,
collaborate with well known superstars and big film studios across a range of
platforms including print magazine, podcasts, website, digital edition and live
events. What makes them stand out from other film magazines is their true
connection to their audience, lots of trust and piece of mind that they will continuously
purchase.
- - The EMPIRE’s audience are aged 18-40, three quarters
of them being male, they are all passionate about the film industry, using it as
an insight to other worlds. EMPIRE ensures that they “curate”, “inform” and “entertain”
whenever and wherever.
- - They have an award-winning digital platform,
their podcasts having a weekly average of 51,000 downloads and being in the top
5 hit in the iTunes chart.
EMPIRE seems to be a very successful film magazine that really
takes their 18-10-year-old audience (three quarters of them being male) into consideration.
Ensuring that they are provided with the most entertaining information and
informing them with things that other companies are lacking. Such as their interview
with Tom Cruise and shooting with Ryan Reynolds, this content even being classed
as “premium”. EMPIRE reaches out to a range of platforms including print
magazine, podcasts, website, digital edition and live events. What makes them
stand out from other film magazines is their true connection to their audience,
lots of trust and peace of mind that they will continuously purchase. They have
an award-winning digital platform, their podcasts having a weekly average of
51,000 downloads and being in the top 5 hit in the iTunes chart. Them having a
variety of platforms truly engages their audience, reaching out to a wider population
that may be interested, ensuring that they “curate”, “inform” and “entertain”
whenever and wherever.
My set brief is different compared to the readership of
EMPIRE, theirs having a target audience of 18–40-year-olds and mine being primarily
16–25-year-old middle and upmarket media literate audience. This would mean their
interests will not be the same to what EMPIRE’s audience are into, due to
reaching a younger population. This means that the content for my film magazine
will have to have a shift in style in order to appeal to a younger generation.
